VETERANS DAY

Join Hub Town Tours as we commemorate Veterans Day by visiting Beacon Hill and sharing stories of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment and countless others who preserved the union during the Civil War. This first Black regiment from the North left Boston under the command of Col. Robert Gould Shaw. Our 2.5-hour walking tour will explore sites along the Black Heritage Trail in Beacon Hill, including abolitionist landmarks such as the African Meeting House and the Robert Gould Shaw / 54th MA Memorial. Along the way, dive deeply into the years before the U.S. Civil War as 19th-century Bostonians grappled with the institution of slavery and demanded an end to racial injustice across their young nation.
