Are friends and family tired of you dragging them on another history tour? Have you walked Boston’s Freedom Trail and wished you could work along it? Hub Town Tours, a top-rated tour operator since 2016, seeks passionate and professionally-minded tour guides to expand its team! Successful applicants will be friendly, reliable, and, most importantly, demonstrate an obvious enthusiasm for sharing Boston history with others.
Hub Town Tours aims to inspire an informed global citizenry by placing each guest, regardless of their personal background, into the tumultuous world of Revolutionary Boston. Our local tour business focuses on the history and architecture of the iconic Freedom Trail, brought to life with historical accuracy and obvious enthusiasm. Founded by a former park ranger, Hub Town Tours emphasizes the power of storytelling to educate all citizens on the foundational debates, decisions, and ultimately, declarations that created the United States of America.
Hub Town Tours offers top-quality, small-group walking tours through Boston seasonally, from April to December. Dress is business casual (no colonial garb!) and groups are a maximum of 16 guests (no huge groups!). New guides begin on per diem basis—$240/day plus gratuities—with the opportunity for additional hours and tours throughout the season. This is an ideal summer job for history teachers, part-time work for recent graduates or current students, or a side gig for storytellers who simply love being outside, surrounded by history and sharing it with others.
BA in History, Teaching, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field (or graduating spring 2023); preference for applicants working toward or holding master’s degree in the humanities.
Weekend availability required; passion for history is a must!
Public speaking and/or tour guide experience also required.
